We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions about the Seekers Centre QEEG/Neurofeedback package.
Our neurofeedback therapy (NFB) involves training your brain to tune itself back to balance. This is based on data that identify the location and the specific frequencies of electricity, or ‘brain waves’ that are over- or under-active. This information is obtained during a 19-lead quantitative electroencephalogram (qEEG) assessment, according to international standards for research and practice.
Studies suggest that NFB may improve outcomes in many disorders affecting the brain and nervous system. This includes:
- Concussion
- Chronic pain
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Dementia
- attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- epilepsy
- anxiety
- depression
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia and other pain conditions
- Alzheimer’s, strokes, and Parkinson’s
The focus of our neurofeedback program is on post-concussion syndrome, along with the associated chronic pain and PTSD that are seen in the Polytrauma Clinical Triad.
The 15-session neurofeedback treatment program includes:
• A brief clinical assessment
• Single-lead neurofeedback therapy
• Vision therapy exercises
• Auricular acupuncture based on the Seekers Method
• A regimen of evidence-based and personalized Natural Health Products
• Instruction in the self-care approach to the Seekers Method for regular daily self-treatment
• Support and coaching to motivate changes in diet, lifestyle, mindfulness and self-care
After your 15 sessions of neurofeedback, a follow-up qEEG brainwave assessment will include the following:
• An introduction and orientation to the technique
• Application of scalp qEEG electrodes (totally painless)
• Recording of two independent sets of brainwave data during eyes-open and eyes-closed
• Artifact and error correction by a research associate (Carleton neuroscience)
• Interpretation and report preparation from a neurofeedback research expert (University of Geneva)
• Explanation of your results and the prescribed treatment program
The total cost of the package is $2400. A deposit is required and we have set-up a payment plan to help you break up this cost across your visits.
This combination of several different treatments included in this program make it totally unique. It presents a serious opportunity for anyone who is willing and able to focus on healing their brain.
Training the brain with neurofeedback is an exciting, innovative way to heal the brain that is making waves around the world. Neurofeedback is a safe, accurate and painless way to find out how the brain is working by measuring the electricity it creates. This information can be used for biofeedback, which involves training the brain to help make it better.
While every patient responds differently to this kind of treatment. It does not work for everyone, but when it works the benefit usually appears within 15 sessions. If improvement is noted, a second treatment plan is usually required. In most cases, response to neurofeedback is better when combined with the Seekers Method laser program.
While EEG testing can be done in most hospitals, this data is visually scanned by neurologists who are trained to identify the sharp spikes produced by seizures. 19-lead quantitative EEG assessment is not and OHIP-insured service. The equipment and software that are used to collect and interpret the data are completely different.
This neurofeedback program combines a number of different treatments that have been scientifically tested and show some evidence of effectiveness. This does not automatically mean that they are reimbursed by every health insurer. In Ontario, decisions like these are made by federal and provincial regulatory agencies.
The qEEG can provide information that is missed on an MRI. Real-time qEEG data is a unique and powerful window into the brain. This is like a mirror, allowing us to focus treatment on the most significant imbalance. Your data compares every electrode to every other electrode, and also compares your brainwaves to those measured in thousands of healthy individuals.
There are several Natural Health Products that have been studied for their potential to support brain health. We will choose a few remedies for you from this menu in our dispensary. They will be based on your specific symptoms and your qEEG. You will take these remedies every day during your treatment to support your healing.
The qEEG assessment is performed by Zannat Nahar MD (Bangladesh). A solid member of the Seekers clinical team, she has a special interest in qEEG assessment and neurofeedback therapy. She has also learned many elements of the Seekers Method which complement her solid medical background. Our patients love Zannat, and so do we.
After you have had your Functional Brain Assessment, including qEEG, Neurofeedback can begin as soon as 2 weeks later. Sessions take one hour and are typically prescribed twice per week. More intensive treatment plans are available.

At the end of your treatment program, we will review your progress and a follow-up qEEG will be done. After a report of findings meeting with the technician, in some cases another second course of treatment will be advised or a different treatment program may be recommended.
Your program schedule will be created at the end of your first treatment session. We recommend that all sessions be scheduled in advance, but are willing to accommodate specific needs
Most neurofeedback programs are delivered in 30-60 minute sessions, 2 – 3 times a week. Specific days of the week are flexible. More intensive treatment programs are available.
We understand that life happens, but the time we have set aside for you is your responsibility. Appointments can be rescheduled up to 3 business days in advance. Missed or cancelled appointments will not be refunded.
A detailed email will be sent to you prior to your visit outlining specific instructions on how to prepare for your visit.
Our neurofeedback program combines many different therapies to deliver an exceptional treatment opportunity. Studies suggest that patients who do neurofeedback see long-term improvements in brain function, and they may be enhanced by the other elements of this program.
For those who see improvement with neurofeedback, some experts would suggest that this should be repeated as needed. A second course of treatment would be recommended for most patients, and some may need a total of three. For those with chronic or persistent symptoms, it may be beneficial to repeat treatment each year.
